Yesterday, I head a powerful phrase that I have never heard before. Identification before escalation. Its basically means that in order for you to go up you have to identify where you are currently.

I have heard advice like this before, but for some reason, hearing it in this cliche way, made an impact. As I reflected on this statement, I realized that often times I would be spinning my wheels, doing some sort of action, but not keeping track of my effort and the results that it produced.

Once I started being more detailed in recording the productive steps that I have taken, then tracking the results. I have seen my daily leads increase, my daily income increase, and my daily free time increase.

I would encourage you to get in the habit of tracking your productivity steps, as well as the time it takes to complete them, and then your results. You will be amazed at what you can discover. You will see where you spend your time and where you may be wasting it.

This can be done with a notebook, spreadsheet, or a whiteboard. Don’t make excuses, just  give it a try and see the results for yourself.

What Is Your Goal of Your Content Creation

There are a couple of tricks that you can use to stimulate your mind for good ideas to write about.

Before we explore these ideas, you need to decide what the goal of your post is. You may be writing to get more traffic by talking about a trend  or you may be targeting a specific  keyword with a goal to rank on the search engines. Whatever you are targeting, keep that in mind when you choose where to get your ideas from.

Sources of Ideas for Content Creation

Google Trends – If you don’t know  what this is, just Google it. This is a feature of Google that will tell you what the hottest items typed in to the search field for a given amount of time. This is awesome for content creation ideas.  You can spot trends that will be short lived, but  you will also be able to identify those that have more staying power.  On a side note, this works very well targeting social media like Twitter or Facebook.

Google Keyword Tool – You are probably saying, ugh, keyword research, I have content creation block, how in the heck am I going to know what keyword to use? Au contraire mon frere, we are not going to poke around and try to stumble on a keyword. Instead we are going to enter in a website that you want to dissect in to the “website” field. This will show  you a list of 100 keywords that Google recognizes as the site you entered to be about. So if this is an authority site, you can get an idea of great ideas to write about for your content creation.

Reading Similar Blogs – You are not  the only one in your niche. When you get stuck, go ahead an take a look at some competitors sites.  You will be surprised at how this triggers your brain into really creative content creation. While you are there, show some love comment on what you read, it will give you a backlink to your site and may even start a nice relationship.

3. Article marketing.  This is useful for those that can handle more tasks or maybe just can't stand social media.  Content is still a big part of the internet and article marketing is an evergreen strategy that works for free MLM leads and assists in backlinking and raising your rank on the search engines.

4. Video marketing – More people now a days are watching video instead of reading on the net.  Using smartphones, video is a  lot more comfortable than trying to scroll through the print. When done correctly, video marketing can generate you free MLM leads, position you as a leader and give you great brand recognition. Utilizing video marketing correctly with tags and descriptions, you can also produce a search engine ranking boost.

5. Search engine optimization (SEO) – This is the godfather of free MLM leads. This is a compilation of all of these methods coupled with a little more. Branding you as a leader, ranking your site in the search engines and  establishing a presence of authority on the web.

My god, 900 visits later, 0 leads, and what I saw was horrifying and exciting at the same time. I had popup domination setup to show when someone went to exit the screen just one time in 7 days, so I wasn’t seeing it on my other browsers. My capture page consisted of a banner (no link), YouTube video, and an optin form. Pop up domination had a dynamic gif, optin form, and Facebook connect button. The problem was when it did show, the YouTube video on the main screen would show through, overlap the popup, making the entire site a disaster.

I thumbed through the internet to find a solution. Even the site for Pop Up Domination gave a solution, but the solution they gave was missing a trailing / and didn’t work until I added that. So I wanted to share with you the fix for this so you don’t have to waste a day of traffic and get 0 leads for a simple fix. Immediately upon fixing it, I received a new lead notification from aweber. This was 2 in the morning and I felt satisfied enough to go to sleep then, but I had to share this with you today.

When I worked in tech support and sales, the #1 thing that I observed that separated the successful customers from the not so successful was their consistent action. The daily disciplines if you will. You know that old tale of the tortoise and the hare. Steady does win the race, especially when its a marathon and not a sprint. So don't wuss out, make a commitment that you will be adding content one month from today. Toss that content into your syndication machine, good or bad, you will only get better and grow your business daily through the art of discipline.

You will eventually need to figure out which marketing method you prefer. Its usually the one that  you are best at.  Could be content marketing through articles, blogs, hubpages, squidoo. It could be video or audio marketing. Once you get that figured out, its much easier to create a piece of content on a daily basis and just work through the numbers.

If you are having trouble creating a piece of  content everyday or staying consistent with the game plan that you gave yourself then you may want to revisit the reason that you are building a business in the first place. I wrote a post about that recently, its about developing your why, must read if you are having trouble staying consistent.

Remember, do something everyday even if you don't feel like it. Eventually that will pay off and you will be able to do what others cannot. Its all about the art of the daily discipline.

Here is the story that I heard that I want you to consider when developing your why:

There are two tribes at war. They have been at war for a very long time. They are the highlanders and the lowlanders. They have been fighting for many battles and the highlanders get an idea to go down and steal a child from the lowlanders. One night they sneak down into the village and snag a young child and take him back into the highlander village. The next day the lowlanders are outraged, they muster up and the bravest, strongest, most battle tried warriors step forward and vow to go the highlander camp they will rescue the child.

The most elite lowlanders form their party and start forth on their rescue mission. The terrain is harsh. The mountain is steep. The holds are small. The lowlanders attempt many different passes and no success. They attempt the north, the south, east and west angles. Still they cannot gain any ground. No matter how hard they try, they cannot reach the summit where the highlander camp is. The lowlanders are frustrated and are ready to give up.

Being almost nightfall, the lowlanders were checking the horizon of the summit to assess how much daylight they had left. They notice a silhouette of a woman coming down the mountain. It appears she is carrying something in a pouch strapped across her shoulder. As the woman gets closer the lowlanders notice that she is carrying the child that they are on mission to recover.

The elite lowlanders are dumbfounded. They rush over to her. Stuttering and bewildered they ask how she had climbed the summit and returned with the baby. How was she able to accomplish this when the elite warriors could not?

Her reply was simple, "It was not your baby"

Just writing this, brings chills across my arms.

Developing your why is that important.  Your why is your baby. 

Once you have your why figured out to this level. You will be willing to face the rejections, pick up the phone, do the necessary online marketing to produce results. Whatever it  takes. That's it, whatever it takes.

Being a network marketer generating leads and traffic to brand yourself online, Twitter is a no brainer. Twitter gives you the ability to directly target someone without having to pay for expensive pay per click.

Just as with any other type of marketing Twitter is an art form.

There are a couple of rules that you want to follow and this twitter guide should help you.

• Don't spam Twitter – people use Twitter everyday to stay connected and let others that are interested in what they are doing to keep updated on their status. Its important to provide value in your links that you post. You are able to promote yourself or anything else for that matter, but for it to be effective, its important to have a good ratio of approximately 5 informational posts to every 1 promotion.
• Take time and setup your Twitter account to be different and brand yourself. You will get more targeted followers and it increases the trust factor to other users.
• Its ok to syndicate or tweet blog posts or YouTube videos that you have created. This is actually a very good strategy to get traffic to your site. Remember the 5:1 ratio.
• Create a powerful thanks for following message. – When someone follows you on Twitter, you may send them a message that says thanks for following. In this message you may put a link in there to send them wherever you would like. This is not the time to promote your opportunity. This is best used to point back to a trusted site like your Facebook account, YouTube Channel or any other social media profile. 
• Leverage is key – Use multiple Twitter accounts to maximize exposure and get the leverage you need to drive traffic to your site.

This was just a short Twitter guide to give you a heads up on what you should and shouldn't do with Twitter. One other thing that I should mention is that this shouldn't be your only marketing technique. Its a easy one to start with, but just like investments you must diversify. We all hear that all of the time. Sometimes we take it for granted  or just want to skip over the blah blah to get to the newest, coolest technique that is going to bring us #1 positions or instant leads. It doesn't work that way. Success starts with the gray matter between our ears. If you are anything like  me, then you have probably read a lot of success books and listened to, watched or attended many seminars. Maybe you have been struggling and not seeing the results you want. Maybe like me, you have experienced limiting beliefs that are holding you back. Trash in your head that keeps getting in your way. I recently received an invitation from Ray Higdon to attend a webinar that he was putting on with Noah St John. Now I had never heard of him before this my that little pull in my gut told me to listen. The title  of the webinar was getting out of your own way. I got a lot of nuggets out of it.

Noah and Ray invited us to take some action and list out  our why to's and our why not  to's when it comes to being successful.  They mentioned that most people won't do that exercise. Knowing that to be true, I took this as a challenge and immediately started to write down my list.

When I was writing down my list, I noticed that it was much different than writing down material things that I wanted or levels I wanted to achieve. It was more of the process of determining what kind of person, and how my experience would be like when I achieve the level that I define as successful. It was an eye opener.

I have decided to share it with you here today. Now before I reveal my list I want you to understand that there were 2 categories "My Why To's" and "My Why Not To's" .

"My Why To's" are what  you will feel and be once you are successful. Not material objects, but more like your presence and internal satisfaction you will experience once you are at your definition of being  successful.  The" My Why Not To's" are basically the cost of you getting your Why To's

With that being said "my Why To's" are exactly as I wrote them:

• peace of mind
• calming serenity
• Proof of achievement
• recognition
• legacy
• more free time and money to enjoy it

"My Why Not  To's" exactly as written are:

• time
• vulnerability
• wrong  choices
• loss of effectiveness

I wanted to share these with you because  this exercise really hit home and I liked the punch it the gut that it gave.

Noah went on to explain something basic, but profound.

"We experience two things: gain & loss", You should strive to raise your own awareness to understand  life is all gain and loss to take  the sting out of the loss" (all paraphrased from what he said)

He then wanted us to ask 3 questions and I asked that you ask yourself those questions too

1. What money-killing thoughts are you still carrying around?
2. What's  the financial cost of that?
3. What's the emotional toll on that?

He then went on to talk about a common but very true blueprint of belief leads to action which leads to results which leads to more belief.

It all starts with your belief.

He posed a very important question, "What do you do when you don't get what you want?"

He then offered his course which helps to reprogram your mind to ask the right questions, so that your  life can unfold and provide the answers. So many of us ask the wrong questions. I picked up the course and very glad that I did. I have only listened  to the audio portion so far, but already fell in love with it. It asks many questions that I didn't even know to ask that I feel will  have a profound effect on my life and business. When you set off to branding yourself with your MLM blog, your brand should remain familiar.

You don’t want to go switching things up and changing the look too often. People start to associate your face and your theme to you. They become comfortable with it and if you change it often to look cool or what not, you are actually doing yourself a disservice.

There are 2 themes that I recommend to people when they get started. Depends on what kind of  budget they are starting with. I either recommend a free option or a paid  option.

The free theme that I recommend  people use for their MLM blog is the flexibility theme. I have used this theme many times for different niche sites that I had created in the past. This theme allows you to easily change colors, layouts and personality without having to know CSS or PHP. This is very important, simply so you can get your MLM blog up and running with the least amount of technical effort. This theme will work great if you are just wanting to make an informational blog and not really looking to have any capture pages or special membership sections.

Believe it or not the  #1 best way to build a team is more than likely the same one that your respective company is teaching you.

<Smack> Why am I online and  finding  that the best  way to build a team is the same way that my company has been teaching me? What gives?

Its simple. Network marketing has been around for decades and is based on duplication. So you need to have a way that anybody regardless of who they are can build a team. Sure, online methods have their  place, but when you get started or if you skipped this step, your best choice is your warm market.

People have this dream that they can build their business online without having any contact with anyone. If that  is your goal, perhaps network  marketing is not for you. Network marketing is built upon relationships, so you need to get on the phone and talk to people to build a team.

Now if you think that you burnt your warm market, try a different approach with them. Instead of being all hyped up, like you just drank some magical kool aid, just contact each person, let them know that you are working on a new project that will help you accomplish "X" (x=your reason why). If they are open to learning more, you can send them a video, if not, no big deal. You didn't want to just miss anybody.

When you do this,you will probably have a couple of people that are interested. Plug them into your company's system that they teach you to build a team.

Let's put  this into perspective. Lets say that you have just  opened a restaurant. Who are going to be the first people that you invite? Your  friends and family! Its just the natural thing  to do. Some will show  up and  some won't. Its the same thing  with network marketing. Don't make it harder than it has to be.

Online  lead generation comes AFTER you have contacted all of your  warm market.

These methods work as well, just not as quickly, and with as much simplicity as contacting your warm market to build a team.

Our whole goal with online lead generation is to move people into your warm market to be added into your system.

This may not have been what you wanted to hear but its the most effective way to build a team and your business when you get started.
