Article Writing for Lead Generation

People often ask me how to generate leads online.  They hear that article marketing is dead and that there is a new, underground way of promoting your info on the web.  These are the same people that each week are jumping to a new opportunity or are jumping on the newest product to help them promote their site.  The problem is that those new programs may be great, but you really only want to focus on one or two methods until you master them.  Then move on to the next.

The method I want to talk about here is article marketing.  The reason that I personally choose article marketing is that you get residual leverage.  What I mean by that is once you place your article out there in cyberspace, its out there indefinitely. This provides much more long term leverage and link love back to your site.  An article actually provides a sustainable backlink back to your site, to aid you in seo, this link is always there until you take down the article yourself.

A lot of people are afraid to write articles, they are afraid that they won’t know what to write or that their article will be too short.  Not a problem, articles only have to be between 400 and 750 words.  You can go longer, but for the sake of lead generation, you should be pointing to a capture page or sales funnel to produce the lead.

Knowing what to write about day in and day out can be challenging at times.  Depends on what you are generating your leads for, but you should know some common knowledge about the industry that you are in.  Something that I do that helps me is I carry notepad a pen with me, whenever I get a topic idea, I write it down.  Simply review that notepad before writing and easily you can get a topic a day.

Once you have your article written, you must expose your article out there.  The best way to do this is to use an article submitter.  A submitter will save you an incredible amount of time and headache getting your articles to different article directories.  Before you submit your article to the multitude of directories, you must first spin your article.  Spinning is simply rearranging your article into different sentences and words but still meaning the same thing. With that being said, it will still save you a ton of time to use these two products together.

Here are the steps that I use to produce an article for lead generation:

  1. Write Article
  2. post to blog
  3. submit through onlywire
  4. spin article with thebestspinner
  5. point links in resource boxes of articles to blog
  6. submit through automatic article submitter
  7. blog has capture form for the lead
  8. Rinse and repeat

This will produce a large number of backlinks all pointing back to my main capture page, which is actually my blog article. This will increase the potential page ranking for that particular blog post and on a good day, produce a couple of leads.

Great information on the power of article marketing and link building. You’ve done a fantastic job of outlining the exact step by step process and its leverage points. Using an article spinner and submitter creates time leverage; this allows you to have multiple positions on the web. This is excellent information for those needing to learn how to generate leads via article marketing.
